But let’s face it, some destinations are better than others when venturing out alone.

In no particular order, here we go.

Croatia

For the adventurous solo explorer craving a mix of stunning beaches, captivating history, and mouthwatering cuisine, Croatia stands out as a dream destination. With a favorable exchange rate and friendly locals, this coastal haven offers a wealth of experiences, from beachside relaxation to embracing natural beauty and historic exploration.

Culinary enthusiasts will find Croatia a delight for the taste buds. Indulge in white truffle pasta or savor freshly caught fish, shellfish, or octopus at charming seaside villages. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll through Dubrovnik's medieval Old Town, navigating cobblestone streets, marveling at historic architecture, and immersing yourself in the history that unfolds around every corner.

For the more adventurous solo travelers, renting a car opens the door to exploring Croatia's Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. Consider extending your journey to Slovenia for a couple of weeks, creating a perfect blend of cultural immersion, beach escapades, and nature exploration.

Iceland

Iceland has secured its position as one of the hottest destinations in recent years, and it's not just because of its breathtaking landscapes. This Nordic island offers a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, providing a myriad of experiences for solo travelers seeking adventure and tranquility.

It also happens to be one of my all time favorite (and most booked!) destinations.

Notably, Iceland holds distinguished title of being the most peaceful country in the world, according to the Global Peace Index report. This accolade transforms Iceland into a worry-free playground for solo travelers. Walk on a glacier, ride an ATV on a black sand beach, explore an ice cave, snorkel between the continents, descent into a dormant volcano, soak in natural hot springs, go whale-watching or chase the Northern Lights. The possibilities are endless. With a solid itinerary, Iceland is a fantastic spot for your first solo trip.
